What Is a Good ROAS in India? An Honest Answer From an Agency That Lives It

By Sahin Molla · 2026-06-10 · 6 min read

If you have ever spoken to a marketing agency in India, you have probably heard a magical number: "We will get you 10x ROAS." Here is the honest truth from a team that manages real ad budgets every day: a sustained 4x ROAS is excellent, and most businesses claiming 10x are measuring it wrong.

What ROAS actually means

ROAS — Return on Ad Spend — is simple: revenue generated divided by money spent on ads. Spend ₹1,00,000, earn ₹4,10,000 in tracked sales, and your ROAS is 4.1x. At Shahin Web we sustain a 4.1x ROAS for our e-commerce work, and we are openly proud of that number precisely because it is real, verified, and repeatable month after month.

Why "10x ROAS" claims usually fall apart

Three common tricks inflate ROAS numbers. First, counting brand-name searches — when someone searches your own brand and buys, that sale was coming anyway. Second, short windows — anyone can show a 10x week; sustaining it for seven months is the real test. Third, ignoring returns and cancellations, which in Indian e-commerce can quietly remove 15–25% of "revenue".

What a good ROAS looks like by industry

For e-commerce with average order values under ₹1,500, a sustained 3.5–4.5x is strong. For lead-generation businesses like real estate or education, ROAS is measured differently — through cost per qualified lead. For services with high lifetime value, even a 2.5x first-purchase ROAS can be hugely profitable.

How a 4.1x is actually built

Ours came from full-funnel work, not clever bidding alone: rebuilding the store for speed, fixing tracking so every rupee is attributed, WhatsApp automation that recovers abandoned orders, and creative testing every single week. Ads amplify a good system; they cannot rescue a broken one.
